one improvisation divided into 11 parts of roughly equal length.

the conceptual framework for this improvisation is known to the group as 'SOUND ISLANDS'- a metaphor that suggests flying over an ocean (silence) and encountering many variously sized islands (sounds) on the journey. the sonic effect is that phrases, sections, and even single notes are invariably framed by silence. every sound is a (mostly) unique and independent gesture that emerges from nothing and recedes to nothing.

played in order (1-11) the improvisation can be heard in its original form. however, its homogenous metastructure allows the various sections to be reshuffled and produce equally satisfying listening results.
