about

When Tom and Paul get together to play the session is always recorded. It's useful to be able to listen back to the music, critique what worked and what didn't, to have an audio document of the MFHT's evolution and to present successful creations to other people.

The playing is typically improvised and exploratory and while this doesn't guarantee cohesive and interesting material, still many excellent pieces of music emerge from this process. And occasionally there'll be a single evening where the duo (at least) feel that every piece is good listening. The date in this case was April the 23rd 2012 - 4 23 12.

The titles used for each of the individual tracks are portmanteaus that hint at the the instrumentation. eg: Basstacean = Bass + Crustacean, Skab = Skatchbox + Plate etc The order of the pieces has been rearranged into (what we feel is) a better listening sequence but you can recreate the exact order in which they were played by using the #s at the end of each of the tracks.
..and then you will notice that track 5 is missing: cut short by a failing minidisc player. :-(
